COVID-19 Information

PLEASE OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES FOR YOUR SAFETY.
Please maintain social distancing within our premises at all times, as per government guidelines.
Please use the hand sanitising stations provided at entrance points and throughout the building.
Face coverings must be worn indoors unless you are seated at a table.  Masks can be removed while you are eating at a table.  Please be kind to our staff if they ask you to put one on.

We are open every day of the week but our hours and offering may vary according to current restrictions and staffing limitations. Our opening hours are available to view on the Mersea Barns website, www.merseabarns.com.

Take Away Food and Picnics

Take away food and drinks can be ordered, purchased and collected from our Shop. If you would like to eat your take away items in our garden or fields, please make sure you check in using the NHS app, our online registration system or give your name and contact number to one of our team members.

Eating In

Guest registration

Each person aged 16 or over needs to register their name and contact details to allow contact tracing. This can be done using the NHS app or by giving your name and telephone number to a member of staff. Guest details will only be shared with contract tracing teams if necessary. They are kept securely for 21 days after which they are deleted or destroyed.

Booking

Please call us on 01206 384198 to book a table.

How to Order Food

If you are eating in, you will be greeted by a member of staff in our lobby area. Please wait to be seated.  We will show you to your table and explain the ordering process. Once you are ready to order one of our team members will take your order. Please ensure that you respect social distancing guidelines.  If payment needs to be split in your party, you will be asked to queue in a socially distanced manner. Your food and drinks will be brought to your table.

Payment should be made by contactless card payment whenever possible.

Tables

Please sit at your assigned table. Please do not move to a different table without speaking to a member of staff. Do not move the tables. If you have a larger party, you may need to sit on separate tables.

We have a limited number of indoor tables.  We have several tables for up to 6 people in our heated marquee and some more covered tables.

At busy periods we request that tables are vacated in a reasonable time frame to allow other guests to be seated. Please consider that other people may be waiting for a table.

If the weather is bad you must not crowd into covered areas. Social distancing must be maintained.

Within the building

If we are busy we may need to operate a One-way system within the building. Entry is via our main front lobby doors. Exit from the building is via the rear lobby doors. Exit from the garden area is via the path round the outside of the building to the car park. Please observe and follow any signs within the building and outdoors.

Please ensure that if you are required to queue or wait for any reason that you observe social distancing guidelines.

If you have mobility issues, please call us for assistance.

Toilets

Our Ladies, Men’s, and disabled toilets and baby changing facilities will be open and operating within the social distancing guidelines. We may ask you to use a one-in-one-out approach to the toilets.

Please follow any signage or instructions from our staff. Please ask a member of staff if you have any questions.

Children

We ask that your children remain under careful supervision to respect social distancing for all our guests and staff.

Use of the Play Area

To keep you and children safe when using our play area please observe the following:

  1. Only one child, or two children who live together, may use the same piece of play equipment at the same time
  2. Please ensure that children do not mingle closely – the intention is that they play by themselves.
  3. No more than six children may be in the play area at the same time
  4. If there are already six children in the play area please wait outside it and stay two metres from anyone not in your household
  5. Each child must be supervised by only one adult for that child: that adult is responsible for their child and for compliance with these conditions
  6. Use of the play area is in all respects at the risk of the child’s supervising adult
  7. Please bring sanitiser or wipes to clean your child’s hands before play
  8. Do not allow your child to take any food or drink into the play area
  9. If the above is not complied with, please remove your child from the play area

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation – stay safe and keep your child safe

Lovely lunch
Another great place to have lunch and do a bit of gift buying. The menu is good but not overwhelming with some lovely lunch options. All reasonably priced and locally sourced produce. The adjacent shop has good selection of gifts, produce and children's toys. All ethically sourced. Mersea Barns is well worth a visit

Highly recommend
Mersea Barn is a very light and spacious place to eat. Very clean and welcoming with shop that sells unique items to keep or give as presents. The food is always freshly cooked and plenty of it with the most friendly staff. We eat there many times while on holiday.
